Job summary

Coastal Alabama Community College seeks a Part-Time Clinical/Lab Supervisor for Surgical Technology to oversee student learning in clinical and laboratory settings. The role ensures safe, effective instruction and compliance with program standards, working with faculty and clinical partners to deliver a high-quality student experience.

The position requires an Associate’s Degree (or higher) in surgical technology, active national certification, and recent OR/teaching experience.

Job description

The Surgical Technology Part-Time (PT) Clinical/Lab Supervisor supports the surgical technology program by supervising student learning in clinical and/or laboratory settings. This role contributes to the safe and effective delivery of clinical and/or laboratory instruction, supervises student performance, and maintains compliance with program and accreditation standards. The supervisor collaborates with college faculty and clinical partners to provide a high-quality student-centered experience that prepares students for clinical practice.
The Surgical Technology PT Clinical/Lab Supervisor must adhere to the general guidelines as specified by the College’s Policy and Procedures Manual, the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health, and the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Board of Trustees.


Hourly Rate(s):
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree: $27.00
Master's degree or higher: $28.00

At a minimum, the essential functions of this position shall include:

  • Supervise and guide students in the clinical and/or lab settings on any assigned campus or clinical site.
  • Assistwith documenting and evaluating student attainment of learning outcomes using established criteria and assessment tools.
  • Maintainaccuratedocumentation of tasks as required by the program and institution.
  • Communicate regularly with course faculty and/or program leadershipregardingstudent progress, concerns, and performance.
  • Assistin the implementation and adherence to college policies, procedures, andobjectivesin alignment with institutional philosophy and regulatory standards.
  • Report promptly and punctually to all assigned duties, including labs, clinicals, and meetings.
  • Set up, break down, andmaintaincleanliness of lab spaces and equipment whilemonitoringproper student use.

  • Foster andmaintaincollaborative, professional relationships with college faculty, staff, and clinical site personnel.
  • Providetimelyinput and submission of studentappraisalsand other required documentation to course faculty or program leadership.
  • Adhere to and remain familiar with institutional policies and procedures as outlined in the College Catalog,Policyand Procedures Manual, and applicable regulatory or accrediting agency standards.
  • Maintain current licensure, certifications, and health record requirements as mandated by the institution and partnering clinical facilities.
  • Meet essential job eligibility criteria including sensory and perceptual ability, communication, critical thinking, motor function, and professional behaviorrequiredto fulfill clinical and instructional responsibilities.

Required Qualifications

  1. Associate’s Degreefrom a regionally accredited institution
  2. Graduate ofan education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency
  3. Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certificationprogram that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA);Minimum of two years of recent experience (within the past five years) in the operating room scrub role, as a Surgical Technology instructor, or a combination of both
  4. Proficient in the effective use of instructional and clinical technology
  5. Demonstrated excellence in clinical skills, including experience supervising Surgical Technology students in clinical or laboratory settings
  6. Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's Degree or Master’sDegreeinarelatedfield
  2. Surgical Technologist experience in a variety of clinical settings
  3. Minimum of three years of experience as aSurgical Technologist
