Compensation: Salary Range: $62,432 - $78,583/yr. Initial salary placement is commensurate with experience and educational background.

Job Description Summary:

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Teach assigned lecture and clinical courses in the nursing program in a manner consistent with the department’s standards. The assignment may include teaching within any of the nursing programs.
  • Maintain competency in nursing specialties.
  • Coordinate the specialty content for the Associate Degree Nursing (ADN) Program.
  • Participate in all aspects of the nursing programs, including policy development, planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the program.
  • Facilitate the implementation of the evaluation plan of the nursing programs, including monitoring admissions, attrition, retention, and graduate performance.
  • Assume responsibility for instruction, student evaluation, curriculum planning, and implementation.
  • Participate in college and district committees to contribute to the college, community, and profession.

Note: Teaching schedule may include evening or weekend hours. Instructors are expected to utilize and stay current with advanced teaching methods and technologies.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Teaching, preparation, office hours, advising, maintaining records, and grading.
  • Departmental duties such as curriculum development and evaluation.
  • Participation in professional activities and governance.
  • Professional growth and outreach activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Fully satisfied lifetime California Community College Instructor Credential in nursing (not for tenure).
  2. Master’s Degree in nursing from an accredited institution.
  3. Bachelor’s Degree in nursing plus a Master’s in health education or health science.
  4. Qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing, whichever is higher.
  5. Equivalent qualifications with conclusive evidence; foreign degrees must be evaluated.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • At least one year teaching nursing courses or practice in teaching nursing.
  • Eligibility for or holding a California RN license.
  • Three years recent experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.

Other Requirements:

  • Proficiency with tools and equipment used in nursing education.
