The salary range for this position considers various factors including skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and organizational needs. Typically, new hires are not at the top of the range. The current estimated pay range is: $36.25 - $54.37 per hour.

Job Description

This is an ONSITE position located in San Marcos, Texas.

Job Profile Summary:

Prelicensure Clinical Instructors (Hourly) are subject matter experts who teach and mentor students engaged in experiential clinical coursework, in both remote and onsite environments. This faculty position varies in instructional methods based on student and facility needs. The Clinical Instructor supports an assigned group of students, providing specialized instruction on challenging experiential/clinical coursework, and ensures students' success within their clinical placements.

Compensation Expectations:

This role is paid hourly and bi-weekly. Employees must accurately record all hours worked.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Carry out WGU’s mission and strategic vision.
  • Serve as a professional role model in communication, ethics, and problem-solving.
  • Maintain current knowledge in your content area.
  • Implement the philosophy and goals of the program.
  • Foster student learning through innovative teaching practices.
  • Respond promptly to student needs and communicate professionally.
  • Make appropriate referrals for remediation or other needs.
  • Collaborate with coaches/preceptors on student progress.
  • Provide final review and approval for clinical hours.
  • Support and outreach to students proactively.
  • Utilize technology platforms for teaching and communication.
  • Complete electronic clinical evaluations.
  • Promote a positive, student-focused environment.
  • Respond to changing requirements and deadlines.
  • Understand relevant state regulations.
  • Conduct in-person and remote student evaluations.

Job Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master's degree in nursing (verified).
  • Minimum two years of nursing experience.
  • Demonstrated success in roles requiring problem-solving and collaboration.
  • Unencumbered RN license in the state.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Doctorate or terminal degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with distance education.
  • Prior clinical teaching/nursing education experience.
Physical Requirements:
  • Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
