Job summary

University of Wisconsin–La Crosse is seeking an Instructor for Economics to join a pool of qualified instructors for undergraduate and graduate courses. Instructors teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes, maintain currency in the content area, evaluate student work and provide regular feedback.

This pool supports the department as needs arise. Candidates typically hold a Master’s degree and may be considered with substantial progress toward the doctorate.

  • Experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses.

Job Duties:

Each department at the University of Wisconsin – La Crossemaintains an ongoing search to serve as a pool of potentialinstructors for program needs. If hired from this pool, theinstructor will be under the general supervision of the relevantdepartment chair. The instructor is responsible for teachingundergraduate and/or graduate courses. In addition to preparing forand holding classes [face-to-face, hybrid, and/or online], teachinginvolves maintaining currency in the content area related to theteaching assignment, evaluating students’ work, assessing studentoutcomes, providing regular and substantive feedback on studentwork, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours. Inaddition, workload may involve advising students and/or providingother service to the department. Other duties may be assigned bythe chair or dean.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in a field appropriate to the needs of thedepartment, or significant progress toward a doctorate degree, or, in rare circumstances, post-baccalaureate certification orlicensure, or a baccalaureate plus experience, can be establishedas appropriate qualifications for the teaching position. Dependingon the program, specific certification/licensure or clinicalexperience may be required.
