Penn State Altoona is seeking an Assistant Teaching Professor to serve as the Associate Director of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Leadership for the Sheetz Fellows Program.The Sheetz Fellows Program was developed to provide unique opportunities that ignite and inspire top-quality students from Penn State Altoona to become future leaders by fostering entrepreneurial thinking, ingenuity, and problem-solving skills. This Assistant Teaching Professor/Associate Director of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Leadership is part of a team of professionals that develops and delivers education programs by focusing on infusing engaged learning and career-development opportunities and fostering a culture creativity, community, and innovation.
Education and Experience:
The minimum requirement is a master's degree plus five (5) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with the Sheetz Fellows Program is preferred.
As Associate Director of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship, the successful candidate will:
lead and direct students and volunteers
build strong professional relationships with students, faculty, and staff
support all aspects of student engagement including real world projects and other engaged learning opportunities
participate in recruitment of new students to Sheetz Fellows and Penn State Altoona
assist in creating and enforcing policies and procedures related to Sheetz Fellows Program and student activities within the Program
participate with the Senior Director in developing and implementing the strategic plan
aid in managing the program budget and ensuring responsible use of resources
travel with students for study away component
provide guidance, training, and resources to student leaders
manage multiple projects simultaneously
As a faculty member, the successful candidate will:
Teach Sheetz Fellows classes with the Steve and Nancy Sheetz Senior Director of Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Leadership
make educational activities interesting and engaging to accommodate different learning styles
have flexibility to work with students from different backgrounds and cultures
communicate effectively, both verbal and written, in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner with students, faculty, staff, and community members
engage in academic and professional service, consistent with the University's expectations for service to the University, public, and profession
cultivate a supportive learning environment that allows students to think critically and gain valuable real-world experience while incorporating leadership and personal development skills into the curriculum
