• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated success working in a teaching team
• Creative, dynamic, and easy-going approach; extracurricular activities a plus

The Middlebury College Summer Portuguese School announces anopening for a temporary Instructor of Portuguese. The position isavailable during the summer 2019 session, located on MiddleburyCollege campus in Vermont. Our unique 7-week program combines acultural immersion environment with rigorous daily classroominstruction. This is an opportunity to join a community oflearners, by actively engaging in teaching, dining, residing andrecreating with students while reading, writing and speakingexclusively in Portuguese.

In addition to the salary, lodging and a complete meal plan will beprovided.

Qualifications

We are looking for a faculty member with the followingcharacteristics: Experience teaching Portuguese as a secondlanguage in the U.S. and experience teaching Portuguese Linguisticsor Brazilian/Portuguese/African Portuguese Literature. Ability toteach a cultural /interdisciplinary module such as: music, poetry,arts, politics, history, Business Portuguese, African heritage,Cultural Studies of Portuguese Africa; other (open). The successfulcandidate is expected to possess a Ph.D. (M.A. and ABD with strongcredentials may be considered), strong interpersonal skills, anddemonstrated success working as a member of an instructional team.A candidate with a creative, dynamic, and easy-going approach willbe an excellent fit with the Portuguese school. Talent for extracurricular activities will be a plus.
