Job summary

San Juan College invites applications for a full-time, nine-month Instructor of Nursing – ADN Pre Licensure Program. The role supports a growing nursing program with a $10,000 annual stipend in addition to base pay.

The successful candidate will teach nursing courses, supervise students in clinicals (including late afternoons and evenings), and participate in curriculum planning and college committees within the School of Health Sciences.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited university program is required.
• BSN candidates currently enrolled in graduate coursework may be considered, but a Master's degree must be completed within 5 years from hire date.

Responsibilities

• Teach nursing courses and supervise students, including late afternoon and evening clinical experiences.
• Conduct pre- and post-clinical conferences and evaluate student progress with written evaluations.
• Participate in curriculum planning, college meetings, and college committees.
• Maintain posted office hours and substitute as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

• The position reports to the Director of the Nursing within the School of Health Sciences
• The position is responsible for teaching nursing courses, supervising students including some late afternoon and evening clinical experiences, conducting pre-and post-clinical conferences, and will evaluate student progress, prepare written evaluations, and meet/advise with students.
• Other duties will include curriculum planning and revision; attending school and department meetings; and participating in college committees.
• He/she will maintain posted office hours; substitute as needed; and perform other tasks as assigned by the program director.

Qualifications

• A Master’s Degree in with a major in Nursing from an accredited university program required.
• BSN who is currently enrolled in graduate coursework may be considered, however Master’s degree would need to be completed within 5 years from date of hire.
• Must hold current R.N. license issued by the New Mexico Board of Nursing, or in a Compact State, or be eligible for licensure in the State of New Mexico by endorsement.
