Job summary

Middlebury College invites applications for temporary Instructors of Korean for the 8-week Summer Session on the Middlebury campus in Middlebury, Vermont. In this immersive program, instructors lead daily Korean classes and engage students in reading, listening, speaking, and writing exclusively in Korean.

Successful candidates will have prior experience teaching Korean as a second language in intensive settings and demonstrate collaboration within an instructional team.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or ABD or MA with strong credentials.
• Experience teaching Korean as a second language in a proficiency-oriented program.
• Ability to teach cultural/interdisciplinary modules (preferred).

Responsibilities

Description

The School of Korean at Middlebury College is pleased to announcevacancies for temporary Instructors of Korean. The positions areavailable during the summer 2020 session, located on beautifulMiddlebury College campus in Middlebury, Vermont. Our unique 8-week(between June 19-August 14, 2020) program combines a culturalimmersion environment with rigorous daily classroom instruction.This is an opportunity to join a community of learners, by activelyengaging in teaching, dining, residing andrecreating with students while reading, listening, writing andspeaking exclusively in Korean.

We are looking for faculty members with the followingcharacteristics: Experience teaching Korean as a second language ina proficiency oriented program and experience teaching in anintensive Korean program. Ability to teach acultural/interdisciplinary module such as music, poetry, arts,calligraphy, Samulnori, taekwondo or sports is not required, butpreferred.

In addition to the salary, lodging and a complete meal plan will beprovided.

Qualifications

The successful candidate should possess a Ph.D. (ABD or M.A. withstrong credentials may also be considered) or a DML (Doctorate ofModern Language), strong interpersonal skills, and demonstratedsuccess working as a member of an instructional team. A candidatewith a creative, dynamic, flexible and easy-going approachwith openness for accepting new teaching methods andenvironment will be an excellent fit with the School ofKorean.
