Job summary

Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) invites applications for a part-time Nursing faculty pool. Under the Nursing Program Director, you will develop and teach courses, manage labs, and participate in curriculum development across day/evening/weekend offerings in Wisconsin.

Requirements include an Associate’s degree or higher in Nursing, valid RN license in Wisconsin, and at least two years of RN experience, with preferred teaching experience.

Qualifications

Under the direction of the Nursing Program Director, develops and teaches concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. May require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats, online courses, staff development, conduct open labs (if/when necessary), student advising, student outcome assessment and quality review assessment and implementation, student organization involvement, recruitment and retention of students, and other duties as assigned**. Required to keep current with the latest trends and technologies in discipline.

• Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.

• Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program/department evaluation. **
• Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
• Assess student performance.
• Advise students on academic issues. **

• Attend departmental and institutional meetings. **
• Promote the education/training program/department, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to promote educational opportunities at MATC.

• Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Educational Requirements

Must have an Associate’s degree or higher in Nursing.

Occupational Experience

Must have the following: Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent (4000 hours) experience as a Registered Nurse.

1. At least one (1) year must be verifiable work experience as a registered nurse in a long-term care or nursing home setting such as any of the following: home health agency (HHA), hospice or intermediate care facility for individuals with intellectual disabilities (ICF/IID) in which a waiver may be submitted for compliance of long-term care facility services as stated in 42 CFR 483.152 and Wis. Admin. Code Ch. DHS129.06(1)(a)

Desired

1. At least one (1) year of work experience within the last five (5) years -OR-

2. Two (2) years of teaching Nursing, including Practical, Registered or Nurse Aide* (Nursing Assistant) coursework within the last five (5) years.

One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent two (2) semesters full-time or four (4) semesters part-time – per State of Wisconsin Legislature Administrative Code TCS3 3.04

Industry or vendor certification required

Must have the following:

• Has completed a course in teaching adults or supervisor Nurse Aides (Nursing Assistant) in which those who hold graduate degrees may submit a waiver for compliance of instructional experience as stated in 42 CFR 483.152 and Wis. Admin. Code Ch. DHS 129.06(1) (e).
• The ability to achieve approval within 30 days of hire from the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and Department of Quality Assurance as a Primary Instructor upon meeting aforementioned criteria.

Licensure

Must hold a current unencumbered (good standing) license as a registered nurse by the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Previous teaching experience preferred.
• Experience in teaching and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including in-person and online.
• Experience using a variety of instructional methods including: face-to-face, blended, and 100% online preferred.
• Must be able to develop and maintain curriculum currency.
• Working knowledge of computers and software related to instructional area including MS Office/Google Suite, data systems, mobile technologies, web conference tools, and social networking; and knowledge of, or willing to learn, Blackboard or similar learning management system (LMS) preferred.
• Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning strongly required.
• Must be able to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
• Must have knowledge of assessment of student academic competency attainment.
• Must be able to relate successfully with students and staff of diverse cultural, social and educational backgrounds.

Healthcare Physical Requirements

• Must satisfactorily complete health requirements for the School of Health Science, which include a criminal background check, drug test, and verification of immunizations.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds with or without accommodation.

Start Date

This position supports the Healthcare Pathway and is available to start in the fall semester 2026.

Hours

This is a part-time faculty pool position. This is an "applicant pool" posting. Assignments are temporary, not guaranteed, can vary in hours/days, and will depend entirely on course availability and department needs each semester. All work must be performed in the state of Wisconsin. We are seeking candidates with flexibility to teach assignments to include any combination of the following:

• Instructional Modality: In-person
• Teaching Times: Daytime, evening, and/or weekend classes

Salary

The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable.
