Instructor, NC Nurse Aide Program (Part-time)

Join to apply for the Instructor, NC Nurse Aide Program (Part-time) role at Craven Community College.

The NC Nurse Aide I Instructor will teach the didactic and clinical components of a curriculum designed to help students build knowledge and clinical skills aimed at passing the state competency exam for listing as a NC Nurse Aide I. The instructor will teach classes and supervise trainees during clinical training. This position requires flexible hours, including days, nights, and possibly weekends.

Responsibilities:
  • Deliver the curriculum based on skill sets mandated by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
  • Build knowledge and develop clinical skills to help students qualify for listing on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry.
  • Supervise students during clinical training rotations.
  • Evaluate the curriculum to meet State and federal requirements and address student needs.
  • Assess students' clinical progress regularly using standardized assessment tools.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, schedules, and course requirements.
  • Evaluate and document students' progress through testing, observation, and skills assessment.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, clinical facility personnel, and prospective employers.
  • Provide a stimulating environment encouraging participation, interpersonal skills, and good patient care concepts.
  • Promote the mission of the Community College and Healthcare Programs positively and collaboratively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Unencumbered NC RN license.
  • Two (2) years of experience as a registered nurse.
  • Meet at least one of the following:
    • Completion of a course teaching adults.
    • Experience teaching adults.
    • Experience supervising nurse aides.

Additional skills:

  • Ability to perform physical work in class/lab/clinical settings.
  • Ability to work with students from diverse socioeconomic and educational backgrounds.
