About OSDT: The Office of Staff Development and Training (OSDT) provides training for employees across the Department of Adult Correction. OSDT has a staff of 91 instructors and support personnel who deliver basic training to correction and probation officers. The office also leads firearms training, leadership education programs, general instructor training, and other specialized classes, managing the delivery of annual in-service training for over 16,000 certified employees.
This position is responsible for delivering and instructing Correctional Officer basic training at Craven Community College, NCDAC Prisons, and Division I of NCDAC Community Corrections. It supports Prisons CO training under Community College Consortium agreements and delivers Community Corrections and COB training. Other responsibilities include training logistics and material development, planning, organizing, and instructing training blocks for COBT, Career Development, Correctional Officer, Probation/Parole Officer, and Instructor Training for NCDAC.
The employee must deliver training according to OSDT materials and objectives, either independently or as part of an instructional team, maintaining effective communication with students, instructors, and supervisors. Work is performed with minimal supervision, both independently and collaboratively.
Bachelor's degree with two years of related instruction and training experience in the subject matter, OR high school diploma with five years of experience, OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Certification in Firearms and/or CRDT, with a plan to attain remaining certifications within 6 months of starting.
