Starting Date: Fall 2025
The Department of Mathematics at Midwestern State University invites applications for a full-time, 9-month Instructor position to begin Fall 2025. The successful candidate will teach 12 credit hours (generally four courses) per semester (fall and spring) of developmental or introductory mathematics, primarily face-to-face at MSU's campus in Wichita Falls, TX. They will also participate in departmental service and administration, focused on instruction for students in developmental mathematics courses. This may include curriculum design and updates, student engagement work, and development and implementation of support programs.
Midwestern State University is a public liberal arts university in Wichita Falls, Texas, dedicated to providing excellent education in the liberal arts and the professions. The mathematics department consists of fourteen full-time faculty, and offers a BA and BS in mathematics in addition to a variety of courses supporting other programs on campus. As of summer 2025, the department will be housed in the newly renovated Bolin Science Hall, featuring classroom spaces designed to support a variety of pedagogical approaches.
The required education for the position is 18 hours of graduate coursework in mathematics. Other required qualifications include demonstrated excellence in teaching mathematics courses, strong communication skills, and the ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships. Preferred qualifications include a master's degree in mathematics, math education, or a closely related field; successful student mentoring or community engagement; and experience teaching postsecondary developmental mathematics courses.
Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Personal cell phone usage may be required to complete position duties, including multi-function authentication requirements. Regular reliable attendance is required.
