Job summary

Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York, invites applications for a Full-Time Instructor of Mathematics (HV-FAC-8839). The minimum salary is $53,000 and appointments may be at instructor or assistant professor level. The position carries a 10-month workload with benefits for 12 months.

The faculty member will teach on the HVCC main campus and the Malta campus, participate in committees, and engage in professional development and service to the college community.

Qualifications

• Other Master's Degrees considered if at least 15 credits in graduate level Mathematics have been completed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Master's Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or in an appropriate related field to Mathematics. Other Master's Degrees considered if at least 15 credits in graduate level Mathematics courses have been completed. Previous teaching experience preferred. Willingness and ability to teach a variety of courses at various levels of Mathematics. Daytime on-campus availability necessary – may include evening courses.

DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES

The Instructor reports to the Department Chairperson of Computer Science and Mathematics and performs the following duties:

• Provide instruction in Mathematics.
• Evaluate student performance.
• Participation on departmental, division wide, and college wide committees for the purpose of building community and fulfilling aspirations of professional development is encouraged and supported.
• At the direction of the Department Chairperson, faculty shall perform duties as specified in the Faculty Contract.
• This role involves teaching courses that may be assigned at the HVCC main campus and/or the Malta campus.
• Participates in staff meetings and staff development activities.
• Participation on departmental, division wide, and college wide committees for the purpose of building community and fulfilling aspirations of professional development is encouraged and supported.

The minimum salary for this position is $53,000 and faculty appointments may be at the instructor or assistant professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. This position includes benefits for 12 months but has a work obligation of a 10-month appointment (151 days), which reflects responsibilities during the fall and spring semesters. The annual assigned teaching load is between thirty (30) and thirty-three (33) contact hours, typically distributed as eighteen (18) contact hours in the fall semester and fifteen (15) contact hours in the spring semester. Teaching load may include evening, weekend and/or online assignments, and there may be potential for additional compensation through voluntary overload.
