Job description

Position Summary

Compensation: $56,570 - $67,485. Salary, Regular employment, Department: Instruction. The instructor is a member of a nursing faculty team, providing clinical instruction leading to a Certificate of Completion in Practical Nursing and an Associate Degree in Nursing. The instructor provides initial advisement to students and supervises their clinical experiences within the context of a comprehensive community college, understanding the college mission and philosophy to achieve success.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach didactic courses and clinical rotations (day, evening, online, interactive television) as assigned.
  • Teach additional courses, including for area high‑school students, on an overload basis by agreement with the Division Chair and Executive Vice President.
  • Consult with students during office hours; participate in orientation, registration, committees, councils, in‑service, student advisement, and professional development activities.
  • Collaborate with division members to determine course content and curricula.
  • Participate in college‑wide studies and projects, providing requested information.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with instructional technologies (Canvas, Starfish, MS Office, Internet).
  • Develop academic improvement activities for at‑risk students.
  • Supervise student clinical rotations and evaluate performance.
  • Participate in student evaluation with faculty.
  • Deliver well‑prepared, organized, clear lectures and activities for both in‑person and online formats, facilitating mastery of learning outcomes.
  • Develop and submit syllabi for all assigned courses, ensuring required components for each modality.
  • Collaborate with department members and the Division Chair to revise curriculum, select textbooks and equipment, create instructional materials, and ensure uniform assessment practices.
  • Establish and maintain effective learning environments across face‑to‑face, hybrid, asynchronous, synchronous online, dual credit, and Early College High School contexts.
  • Assess and communicate student proficiency using assessment practices; document findings in formal reports as directed.
  • Maintain daily on‑campus presence Monday to Thursday and minimum of 5 in‑person office hours per week, scheduled based on student needs.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of college policies and procedures.
  • Perform all faculty responsibilities, including teaching, faculty service, professional development, orientations, committees, councils, and other duties.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent and continuous sitting/moving, continuous use of fine‑motor skills, and pushing/pulling up to 20 lbs.
  • Active supervision of multiple students in the clinical setting for multiple nine‑hour days per week.
Schedule Details

Hours vary based on course requirements. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Licensed Registered Nurse with at least two years of recent professional RN experience.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (required).
  • Must demonstrate progress toward a Master of Science in Nursing if not yet earned, as arranged with the Department Chair and Executive Vice President.
  • Strong commitment to quality teaching, student success, and academic excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Science in Nursing degree.
  • Teaching experience in a community college or technical school.
