Instructor in Medicine/Assistant Professor of Medicine at the CUIMC - Infectious Disease Physician at Columbia University Irving Medical Center



The Division of Infectious Diseases, Department of Medicine, at the Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) invites applications for a clinical faculty position with expertise and interest in transplant infectious diseases, HIV, healthcare epidemiology, antimicrobial stewardship and general infectious diseases. Candidates should have strong clinical and teaching qualifications. Responsibilities will include direct patient care, the supervision and teaching of housestaff (residents and fellows) and medical students and active participation in Division and Departmental activities.


The candidate will work as a member of a vibrant multidisciplinary team providing inpatient and outpatient consultative care to a diverse patient population. Areas of focus include infections in an immunocompromised host, HIV, healthcare epidemiology and antimicrobial stewardship. Opportunities exist to work collaboratively on the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives, infection prevention and control, as well as initiatives that aim to improve the care of and clinical outcomes in immunocompromised patients.


This position offers substantial opportunities for growth, leadership and academic advancement within Infectious Diseases at our institution. Opportunities for teaching of fellows/residents/students and pursuit of research to answer clinical, translational and health care delivery questions are important components of the position. Candidates thus are expected to have a strong commitment to clinical medicine, teaching, and clinical research.


Minimum Qualifications: M.D. or equivalent medical professional degree. Candidate must be board certified infectious diseases and must be eligible to practice in the State of New York.


Preferred Qualifications: Training and or experience in one of the areas of focus, including HIV treatment and preventive care, transplant infectious diseases, prevention of healthcare-associated infections and antimicrobial stewardship.
