Position Summary
Full-time faculty positions at Clovis Community College are not remote positions and require a physical presence on campus to fulfill teaching duties, conduct office hours, and perform other college-related responsibilities.
Instructors are required to teach 15 credit hours each fall and spring semester and 6 credit hours in the summer semester, which may include day and evening courses. Classes taught beyond the required credit hours are paid on a per credit hour basis and are not part of the 11‑month contract.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Deliver well‑prepared, organized, and clear lectures and activities tailored for both in‑person and online formats, aiming to facilitate student mastery of the course learning outcomes.
- Develop and submit course syllabi for all assigned courses, ensuring inclusion of all required components and tailoring to the instructional modality utilized (online or face‑to‑face).
- Collaborate with department members and the Division Chair to develop and revise curriculum, select textbooks and equipment, create instructional materials, and ensure cohesive and uniform student assessment practices.
- Collaborate with department members and the Division Chair to revise course sequences, prerequisites, and program pathways that progress from foundational concepts to advanced specializations.
- Establish and maintain an effective learning environment across assigned courses, adapting to diverse modalities including face‑to‑face, hybrid, asynchronous, and synchronous online, as well as dual credit and Early College High School instruction contexts.
- Utilize course assessment practices, assess and communicate student proficiency in achieving course learning outcomes, and document findings in formal assessment reports as directed by the Assessment Council and the Executive Vice President.
- Utilize technology, including but not limited to Canvas, Starfish, MS Office, and the Internet, for classroom, studio, and laboratory instruction. Provide students with timely and accurate information and feedback regarding their academic progress, using assessments such as quizzes, tests, homework, and projects.
- Maintain a daily on‑campus presence from Monday to Thursday and ensure a minimum of five in‑person office hours per week to assist students with questions, tutoring, and instructional clarification.
- Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and understanding of all college policies and procedures.
- Perform all faculty responsibilities, encompassing teaching, faculty service, participation in in‑services, evaluating student academic achievement, participating in professional development activities, and contributing to orientations, committees, councils, and other assigned duties.
- Establish partnerships with industry professionals and organizations to ensure program relevance and create pathways for student internships and employment.
- Create detailed implementation timelines, resource allocation plans, and rollout strategies for program launch.
- Collaborate with academic departments, administrative leadership, and institutional committees throughout program development, including presenting program proposals, progress reports, and recommendations to academic governance bodies.
- Collaborate with institutional departments to develop marketing and recruitment materials that effectively communicate program value and engage with prospective students, current students, and alumni to gather feedback and promote program awareness.
- Maintain and update computer lab equipment, servers, and instructional technology; collaborate with the Division Chair and IT department to plan, request, and implement hardware and software upgrades and new equipment acquisitions to support program needs.
Essential Skills
- Strong knowledge of computer hardware/software, networking protocols, and cybersecurity principles.
- Preferred: familiarity with programming languages and web development tools.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
Requires frequent and continuous sitting/moving about, continuous use of fine motor skills, and pushing and pulling of up to 20 lbs.
Schedule Details
Must be available to work 40 hours per week with normal work hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Cyber Security or a very closely related discipline.
- Active Cisco CCNA or CCNP certificates or willingness and ability to obtain CCNA or CCNP certificates within 12 months of hire date.
- Three or more years post‑secondary teaching or industry work experience in management/training in the Cyber Security field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Cyber Security, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, Network Administration, Computer Science, or a very closely related discipline.
- Active CompTIA certifications: A+, Network+, Security+.
- Experience developing or leading cybersecurity curriculum, academic programs, bootcamps, or workforce development initiatives.
- One or more current industry certifications and professional experience/expertise in network/cybersecurity, client/server administration, coding, or IT systems management or post‑secondary teaching.
