Professional experience is required when the applicant possesses a master's degree. The professional experience required must be directly related to the faculty member's teaching assignment. Professional experience includes teaching experience. Therequirement is for the stated number of years of full-timeexperience or the equivalent in part-time experience. Unpaidexperience may be counted if it entailed responsibilitiessubstantially similar to those of relevant paid positions in thefield. A "year" means that period of time which in that occupationis accepted by contract or general agreement as a regular work yearfor that occupation on a full-time basis.

*EQUIVALENCY
TheVentura County Community College District, in its desire to selectoutstanding faculty members from the largest possible pool ofqualified applicants, recognizes the fact that candidates mayattain expertise in a discipline through a variety of means. Certain combinations of education, experience and otheraccomplishments in the field may be judged by the District as equalto the stated minimum qualifications for this position. Candidateswhose transcripts do not list the title of their degree exactly aslisted above, but feel they possess such equivalent qualificationsare encouraged to complete and submit the SupplementalQuestionnaire for Equivalency with their application for review by the DistrictwideEquivalency Committee.
Example: Minimum Qualifications state: "Master's degree inagriculture". Candidate's transcripts state: "Master's degree in agriculturalscience". Since the degree on the candidate's transcripts in theexample do not EXACTLY MATCH the degree listed in the minimumqualifications section, this candidate MUST complete the SupplementalQuestionnaire for Equivalency in order to be considered. When completing the form, besure to explain in detail how your qualifications are equivalent tothe required minimum qualifications. Do not assume that you do notneed to submit a Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency becauseyour degree is similar to a degree stated in the minimumqualifications. Degree titles that are not an exact match will notbe considered outside of the equivalency process. The equivalency review is an independent process fordistrict wide disciplines that is separate from the recruitmentprocess to fill a vacancy. A subcommittee of discipline expertsthat is coordinated by an Academic Senate President will review theequivalency materials and make a recommendation as to whether or not the applicant demonstrated they have qualifications that areequivalent to those shown in the minimum qualifications section ofthe job posting. For disciplines that are unique to a specificcampus the equivalency may be done by the hiring committee alongwith an Academic Senate President. Please be aware that the hiringcommittee may not be able to wait for the results from theequivalency review due to various time constraints and may need tomove forward with the recruitment process.

Startingsalaries for PT Faculty are based on educational achievement and relevant experience. Initial placement is within the startingsalary range. Part-timefaculty with classroom assignments are paid between $2,007 and $3,108 per semester per 10%load.
Part-time faculty salaries are governed by the collectivebargaining agreement between the Ventura County Federation ofCollege Teachers, AFT, Local 1828, AFL-CIO and the Ventura CountyCommunity College District. More information can be found in the AFTcontract.
Please be aware that we will require verification of all part-timeteaching experience for which you wish to receive credit towardplacement on the salary schedule. You will have 30 days to provideverification upon receipt of the offer of employment. Verificationmust come from the human resources department and state thepercentage of full-time-equivalent assignment you worked during thespecified time period.
