Description: We are accepting applications on an on-going basis for consideration for part-time instructors for the Spring 2026 semester at Ventura College. Applicants who have previously applied to this discipline pool should re-apply to continue to be considered.

What You’ll Do

Under the general direction of a dean, an Instructor (Non-Contact/Temporary) provides comprehensive classroom instruction to students from diverse backgrounds to facilitate attainment of their academic or vocational objectives. Instructors (Non-Contract/Temporary) may be employed up to 67% of a full-time assignment in accordance with Education Code sections 87482.5.

Ventura College, established in 1925, is one of the early community colleges in California. The college currently serves about 14,500 students. The campus is located about 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 30 miles south of Santa Barbara, on a 112-acre site with views of the Channel Islands. Representative Duties

• Provide group and one-on-one instruction in assistive computer technology courses.
• Comply with district, college, and DSP&S policies and regulations for instructional settings.
• Provide academic instruction through lecture, lab, or performance courses; assess and develop cognitive abilities, communication skills, and higher-order thinking skills through assignments in various instructional settings.
• Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other higher education options, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services as appropriate.
• Observe and evaluate student performance; provide timely feedback in class, online, or during office hours.
• Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes; align with department, college, and district goals.
• Maintain current records of enrollment, attendance, progress, curriculum, and learning outcomes; prepare and submit related data and reports timely.
• Evaluate and select instructional materials; order materials as needed to ensure timely delivery.
• Participate in curriculum and program development; update syllabi; collaborate with discipline faculty to assess and revise measurable student performance indicators.
• Revise course content to reflect new theory and industry developments within the discipline.
• Attend committees and meetings; may participate in articulation and matriculation activities.
• May provide work direction to others; perform related duties as assigned. E = Essential duties.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates must possess the minimum qualifications for the discipline as approved by the California Community Colleges Board of Governors and defined in the Minimum Qualifications for Faculty and Administrators in California Community Colleges handbook.

Master’s, or equivalent foreign degree, in disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology or rehabilitation counseling AND 15 semester units of upper-division or graduate study in adapted computer technology OR the equivalent; OR possession of an appropriate California Community College Credential. All coursework must be from a recognized accredited college or university. If you completed education outside the United States, see the foreign transcripts section for details. Equivalency may be considered when transcripts do not list the exact degree title. Applicants may submit a Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency. Include details to demonstrate equivalence as required by district policy.
