Job summary

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Provide academic instruction to students through lecture, lab, or performance courses.
  • Advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills.
  • Observe and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, discussions, and examinations; provide timely feedback.
  • Plan and organize instruction according to approved course outlines and student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate records of course enrollment, attendance, student progress, and curriculum; prepare and submit related reports.
  • Evaluate and select instructional materials such as textbooks, manuals, software, and tools in collaboration with discipline faculty.
  • Revise and update course content and materials to reflect new theory, application, and industry developments.
  • Update syllabi and collaborate with discipline faculty to assess and revise measurable student performance indicators.
  • May participate in curriculum and program development; may provide input into the development of student learning outcomes.
  • May attend and participate on committees and in departmental, division, campus, and district meetings.
  • May provide work direction to others.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Location

Ventura College, 112‑acre campus located approximately 60 miles north of Los Angeles and 30 miles south of Santa Barbara. The campus is set in the rolling hills of Ventura with a clear view of the Channel Islands.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in fine arts, art, or art history (or equivalent).

Qualifications that do not exactly match the degrees listed can be considered equivalent. If needed, submit a Supplemental Questionnaire for Equivalency. The equivalency review is conducted by a district subcommittee independent of the recruitment process.

Salary
