POSITION SUMMARY

The College of Southern Nevada (CSN) is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Instructor to teach Veterinary Nursing courses in the Health-Related Professions Department. The successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the mission and philosophy of a community college and the ability to adapt to a flexible schedule across multiple locations, modalities, and times, primarily in person, with potential for online instruction. The successful candidate will also work closely with the Veterinary Nursing Program Director and other faculty and staff to ensure the program provides optimal outcomes for students. Applicants are encouraged to use their cover letter to highlight their teaching experience, approach to instruction, and relevant qualifications.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Advise students as needed.
• Instruct veterinary didactic courses, laboratories and supervise students on clinical rotations as assigned by the Program Director.
• Perform clinical duties as required in the CSN Veterinary Nursing Teaching Clinic.
• Maintain student records, i.e., grades, attendance, exams, assignments, competencies, etc.
• Maintain current knowledge of general veterinary medicine procedures and techniques through continuing professional development.
• Participate in AVMA-CVTEA accreditation activities to support the continuing accreditation of the Veterinary Nursing program at CSN.
• Participate in program, department, school, and college-wide committees.
• Assignments may be multi-campus with the possibility of day, evening, and/or weekend classes.
• Additional related duties include academic advising, curriculum development, and service to the institution and community.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)

• Demonstrated knowledge of course and classroom management.
• Knowledge of course and classroom management.
• Knowledge of general veterinary medicine procedures and techniques.
• Ability to teach veterinary nursing courses in didactic, laboratory, and clinical settings.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.
• Ability to adapt to multiple instructional modalities, locations, and schedules, including in-person and online instruction.
• Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and program leadership.
• Ability to maintain accurate student records and documentation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Education Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
• Licensure Must be currently licensed or obtain a license as a veterinarian in the State of Nevada.
• Professional Experience Must have the equivalent of two (2) years full-time professional experience as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in clinical practice or in an academic setting.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous teaching experience in veterinary medicine.
• Previous teaching experience in higher education.
• At least one (1) year of experience teaching at a community college.
• Experience teaching and/or working with a diverse/multicultural student body and/or workforce.
• Experience with curriculum development.
• Experience teaching online courses.
• Experience developing and implementing field trips for undergraduates to local/regional areas of interest.

SALARY

SALARY: Market Factor Salary - $143,043.60 - 12 month Position/Salary, Contract A.

The "A" contract is a 12-month contract that is normally reserved for faculty members engaged in year-round programs or work responsibilities. Faculty members on “A” contracts accrue annual leave and sick leave. *This position is contingent upon ongoing and available funding. Bargaining unit faculty members hired are eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the College of Southern Nevada NFA Contract 2022-2025.
