General Chemistry Instructor
Our fast-growing Online vocational and degree-granting institution is looking for a candidate to teach Chemistry as remote part-time faculty. This course will meet 1-2 times per week for a 2.0-hour live lecture. Instructors will teach our 10-week courses and average 10 hours of work a week in the classroom and working with students.

Additionally, our faculty provides guidance to students in solving technical issues in the courses they teach while demonstrating vision and leadership for developing students’ ability for real-world jobs.
In additional to teaching this course, this person will act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) to design and build the curriculum for the course. Course design is considered a separate contract and is to be completed prior to the course beginning. The SME will work with Instructional Design team to develop the weekly content, then Instructional Design will develop that content into the Canvas course.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Prepare and provide all lectures.
- Follow current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program and/or develop such when indicated by the Program Manager.
- Maintain a lesson plan of daily instructional events.
- Monitor student attendance and retention.
- Grading assignments, returning graded assignments to students, and assigning final grades for all students in a timely manner.
- Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled times (i.e., office hours) or by appointment.
- Substitute in classes when necessary.
- Advise students as it relates to school policies, satisfactory performance, etc.
- Maintain a professional appearance.
- Maintain professional expertise (faculty development) to meet accreditation standards by attending educational seminars in a professional field, reading current literature, attending online courses, etc.
- Serve on committees (e.g., curriculum development, retention, etc) as assigned based upon expertise or campus needs.
Qualifications
- Master's Degree Required.
- Chemistry experience or education required.
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
- Course/curriculum design preferred.
Additional Preferences
Candidates qualified to teach other courses will be given preferred consideration.

“Qualified” to teach requires 15 credit hours in the relevant course material shown on your college transcripts. Official transcripts are required for this position.
Compensation
- Part-time day classes. 1-2 times per week, for 2 hr. live lectures.
- Paid by the Course taught, estimated $25.00 an hour.
- Average 10 hours of work a week, whether in the classroom or online with students.
- Teaching 10-week classes.
