Circuit Stream in Houston is seeking an instructor to deliver the Foundations of Medicine and Healthcare curriculum to teens in a university setting. You will guide case studies, data interpretation, and hands-on activities with energy and clear explanations. The role includes creating an inclusive classroom and supervising students during activities. Training and safety oversight are provided by Circuit Stream.

Qualifications

• You genuinely enjoy working with teenagers and keep groups engaged.
• Bachelor’s in healthcare/medicine or health science; or Masters/PhD in progress.
• Strong communication and facilitation; explain concepts clearly.
• Teaching or youth-program experience preferred.
• Dependable, receptive to feedback, and safety-minded.

Delivery: In person at the University of Houston

Teaching Dates And Hours

• June 07 - 18, 2027, from 8:45am to 4:45pm
• June 21 - July 2, 2027 from 8:45am to 4:45pm

Compensation

USD 1,650 per week

Training

Required instructor training/onboarding when hired; additional 2-3 hours in June before courses begin.

A criminal background check will be requested before working with youth learners

Why You’ll Love This Role

You’ll introduce students ages 13-17 to the world of medicine and healthcare through case-based learning, discussion, and hands‑on activities. Students will explore healthcare careers, examine symptoms and patient information, interpret data, and think through possible treatment plans. The curriculum, lesson resources, and activities are provided — your role is to make them engaging, accessible, and memorable while helping every student make progress.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Deliver Circuit Stream’s provided Foundations of Medicine and Healthcare curriculum with energy, clarity, and strong classroom facilitation.
• Guide students through medical case studies, healthcare scenarios, data interpretation, and hands‑on activities while ensuring learners are meeting the course learning objectives.
• Help students connect course concepts to diverse healthcare careers and explain medical and health-science ideas in clear, age-appropriate ways.
• Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment and use appropriate behavior-management techniques to reinforce expectations, rules, and safety requirements.
• Supervise students during scheduled indoor and outdoor activities outside classroom instruction each day, while monitoring learner progress and communicating concerns or support needs to the Circuit Stream team.

What We’re Looking For

• You genuinely enjoy working with teenagers and know how to keep a group engaged, participating, and excited to learn.
• Professional, academic, clinical, research, or substantial project experience in medicine, healthcare, health sciences, biomedical sciences, nursing, or a closely related field.
• A completed Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare, medicine, nursing, or health-science discipline; OR Masters/PhD in progress.
• Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain medical and healthcare concepts clearly and responsibly to beginners.
• Teaching, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, camp, or youth-program experience is strongly preferred.
• You are dependable, prepared, receptive to feedback, and comfortable taking responsibility for student behavior and safety.
