• Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
• Manage the classroom/laboratory.
• Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
• Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
• Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
• Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
• Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
• Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
• Support student organizations and activities.
• Develop relationships with business and industry.
• Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
• Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Only those who meet all of the base minimum requirements listed below will be considered.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

Must have a master’s degree or higher in English

OR

Master’s degree or higher in a related discipline (which may include but is not limited to communications, comparative literature, language arts, writing, journalism, speech, reading, theater arts, or liberal studies) with at least 18 GRADUATE level coursework credits in English. A concentration in reading and writing is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous post secondary teaching experience
• Experience in teaching and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including in-person and online
• Experience teaching composition and/or literature
• Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Arabic

• Blackboard Ultra - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems
• Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
• Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)

Start Date: This position supports the General Education Pathway and is available to start for the spring semester, approximately mid-January 2027. This is not for summer teaching assignments.

Hours: This is a part-time faculty pool position. This is an "applicant pool" posting. Assignments are temporary, not guaranteed, can vary in hours/days, and will depend entirely on course availability and department needs each semester. Work schedule could include in person, online, hybrid, daytime, evening, and weekend teaching assignments. Part-time faculty pool

Salary The starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course h our of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable.
