Instructor at TSTC – responsible for delivering approved curriculum, facilitating student learning, managing assessment, integrating technology, mentoring, and representing the college.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver high‑quality instruction and facilitate student learning.
- Develop course syllabi and instructional plans, and organize daily classes using creative techniques.
- Interpret and administer assessments, and provide constructive feedback to support student growth.
- Integrate technology effectively to enrich learning experiences.
- Maintain accurate student records and ensure a safe instructional environment.
- Provide student advisement and collaborate with the Office of Student Success to support retention.
- Participate in recruitment events and assist in department/program planning.
- Demonstrate service and courteous behavior toward students, parents, employers, media, coworkers, and the public.
- Maintain flexibility for evening, weekend, or summer assignments as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Verifiable work experience as an Electrical Lineworker.
- Class C driver’s license.
- Ability to explain safety and work procedures, equipment, PPE, utilities, electrical systems, and linework techniques.
- Proficiency in inspecting and using linework tools and maintenance.
- Strong communication skills with diverse learning styles.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Certifications or Licenses
- Verifiable work experience as an Electrical Lineworker.
- Class C driver’s license.
- Knowledge of safety and work procedures, line‑associated protective equipment, PPE usage, linework tools, distribution and underground power utilities, utility company operations, identification of electrical systems, nominal voltages, energized parts, and approach distances.
- Linework field techniques, installation of poles, conductors, transformers, pole climbing, basic transformer connections, customer‑service voltage verification, staking and framing specifications, UG switching and grounding, transmission structures, rig and hoist line equipment, tailboard meetings.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge, and Certifications or Licenses
- 10+ years verifiable work experience in Electrical Linework, with 5 years as a Journeyman.
- Journeyman Certification.
- OSHA Outreach Trainer Certification.
- Class A Commercial Driver's License (Unrestricted).
- CPR/AED Certification.
- Previous training experience with lineworkers.
Salary and Benefits
- Salary Range: $90,136 – $117,177, plus up to $6,000 retention bonus annually.
