Cuyahoga Community College’s Eastern Campus invites applications for the role of Instructor, Community Recreation (East): Module 4 - Aquatics. The part-time faculty position supports swimming instruction for all ages, focusing on water safety, stroke development, and confidence-building in a community setting.

Qualifications

  • Must hold Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification.
  • CPR/First Aid certifications required.
  • Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience.
  • CPR/first aid and safety certifications are required.

Instructor, Community Recreation (East): Module 4 - Aquatics

Department: Athletics, Wellness and Community Recreation

Location: Eastern Campus

Reports To: Community Recreation Coordinator

Work Schedule: As needed, shifts will depend on college needs and instructor availability. Morning, days, evening and weekend shifts available and needed.

Job Description:

SUMMARY

Module 4: Aquatics

Delivers swimming instruction to individuals and groups ofall ages in a community center setting, emphasizing water safety, fundamentalswim skills, and stroke development. Designs engaging lessons that buildconfidence and encourage lifelong aquatic proficiency. Maintains a safelearning environment by adhering to facility protocols and emergencyprocedures.

Must hold current certifications in the following:

  • Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification through the American Red Cross or equivalent

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Providesinstruction to students and community members.
  • Develops and presents the department with a curriculum that provides students with a full experience and is structured to accommodate all fitness levels.
  • Sets up in preparation for and cleans up after each class.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATIONAND EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Certifications/licenses, as applicable by discipline
  • Required CPR/first aid certifications.
  • Minimum of two years of demonstrated experience

KNOWLEDGE,SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Possess basic knowledge of fundamental subject area concepts, practices, and procedures with the ability to apply in varied situations as it pertains to the departmental focus.
  • Possess excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to read, understand, and enforce safety procedures.
  • Ability to perform an aerobic activity for the duration of the class Demonstrated basic proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Possess sensitivity to appropriately respond to the needs of the community.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Special Note:Set-RateNon-Bargaining Part-Time Position: This is aPart-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $30.30/hour.
