Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, established as one of the oldest in the country, is renowned for training healthcare professionals and advancing medical research. In collaboration with UC Health and Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, the college is at the forefront of medical innovation. The Department of Neurosurgery is a leading institution with distinguished faculty, focusing on complex neurosurgical care and research.

We are seeking a Clinical Instructor for a one-year Spine surgery fellowship. The ideal candidate is a neurosurgeon who has completed an accredited residency and holds or can obtain an unrestricted Ohio medical license. The instructor will join a team of five neurosurgeons specializing in various subspecialties, including endovascular, neuro-oncology, skull-base, neurotrauma, and functional neurosurgery.

Essential Functions
  • Provide comprehensive patient care in clinical specialty, including inpatient and outpatient services.
  • Precept medical students and residents; deliver lectures and lead discussions within the curriculum.
  • Act as a liaison between residents and attending physicians across UCMC, CCHMC, and VAMC.
  • Supervise clinical and administrative duties as directed by the program director and senior faculty.
  • Manage outside admissions to UCMC medical teams.
  • Serve as on-call physician for UCMC, VAMC, and CCHMC throughout the year.
  • Mentor residents during their training progression.
  • Develop and maintain academic curricula, including conferences and practice sessions.
  • Participate in hospital and medical school committees as appropriate.
  • Perform other duties as needed; job description may be updated.

  • MD or DO degree
  • Ohio Medical License
  • Completion of Neurosurgery residency
  • Board certification or eligibility in Neurosurgery
