Job description

Instructor, Bioprocess Manufacturing Technology - Adjunct

Part‑time teaching faculty position at Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC). The instructor will design, prepare, and teach bioprocess manufacturing technology courses for career technical programs, including lab and classroom instruction, and may be required to teach day, evening, and/or weekend hours.

Responsibilities
  • Teaching: Prepare and teach departmental courses, develop learner‑centered lesson plans, employ instructional strategies and materials for diverse learning styles, incorporate current technology, create quality learning environments for a diverse student population, prepare syllabi and supplementary materials, conduct assessments of student learning outcomes.
  • Professional Development: Maintain professional status by participating in activities to maintain currency in the field and advance teaching skills.
  • Administration: Oversee facilities, equipment, and student records, maintain classroom & laboratory spaces, ensure security and safety, maintain records in college systems, comply with college, state, and federal rules.
  • Student Support: Provide timely support, promote retention, refer students to campus resources, demonstrate employability skills such as adaptability, communication, problem solving, responsibility, and teamwork.
  • Other Duties: Perform all duties assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Bio/Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or related field with 18 graduate hours in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, or Bioengineering.
  • Teaching and/or industry training experience in Biotechnology or Pharmaceutical topics in formats such as courses, training sessions, workshops, or continuing‑education seminars.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Doctoral degree in a related field.
  • Post‑secondary teaching experience.
  • Experience assessing student learning outcomes.
  • Experience with distance learning or alternative instructional delivery systems.
