Job summary

SOWELA Technical Community College in Lake Charles, LA, invites applications for a 9-month Faculty position in Biology. The role involves delivering anatomy, physiology, microbiology, and related curricula across campus and online formats.

Preferred candidates will have post-secondary teaching experience, distance-learning and hybrid course delivery, and the ability to engage students using technology and diverse learning styles.

Qualifications

• Doctoral or master’s degree in biology; or, doctoral or master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in biology or related area with an emphasis on anatomical & physiological coursework.
• Applicants must meet credentialing guidelines for SACSCOC.

Responsibilities

• Utilizes the approved curriculum. Develops clearly-stated course objectives and learning outcomes.
• Keeps accurate classroom records.
• Supports department assessment initiatives.
• Uses and updates the required course management system.
• Meets deadlines and evaluates student work in a timely manner including submitting Show/No Show reports, midterm grades, and final grades.
• Travel to other campuses may be required.
• Other duties as required or assigned.
