Job summary

Savannah Technical College is seeking a full-time Instructor for the Basic Law Enforcement Program. This role delivers theory and practical instruction to prepare students for Basic Law Enforcement Certification and related credit coursework.

The instructor will develop syllabi, assess progress, ensure compliance with certification requirements, and keep documentation up to date. Experience in teaching adults and knowledge of current trends in law enforcement is preferred; valid driver’s license

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Criminal Justice with 10 graduate hours or related field.
  • Georgia P.O.S.T. (Peace Officer Standards Training) Instructor Certification (in good standing).
  • Three (3) years of full-time law enforcement experience.
  • Proven experience in maintaining lesson plans and course notebooks that reflect current curriculum.
  • Ability to use a variety of teaching methods to facilitate adult learning.
  • Knowledge of current trends and conditions of local business and industry.
  • Experience in designing and implementing quality improvement programs.
  • Valid driver’s license and insurability required.

Job Description:

Savannah Technical Collegeseeksafull-timeInstructor for the Basic Law Enforcement Program. This individual will provide theory and practical instruction to a level sufficient for students to develop the skills necessary to complete the Basic Law Enforcement Certification Technical Certificate of Credit.

  • Experience in designing and implementing quality improvement programs.

  • Valid driver’s license and insurabilityrequired.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Georgia P.O.S.T. Firearms Instructor, EVOC, Defensive Tactics Certification and other high liability certifications strongly preferred.

  • Teaching experience in a college or university strongly preferred

Physical Demands

The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to mediumweight, andmust be able tolift upto 50 pounds. Work is typically performed in an office/laboratory environment with intermittent sitting, standing, or walking in various settings.Fullrange of hand and finger motion isrequiredfor data entry purposes.

Salary/Benefits

Salary iscommensuratewith education and work experience.Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
