An established academic institution invites applications for a full-time instructor position in the Department of English, Linguistics, & Writing Studies. The Department of English, Linguistics, & Writing Studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth invites applications for its pool of Instructors and/or Assistant Teaching Professors for Fall 2025-Spring 2026 academic calendar. Term contracts only; positions contingent on funding.
Appointments have an anticipated start date of Fall Semester (8/18/25). This is a full-time appointment, teaching the first-year College Writing course (WRIT 1120) and possibly Advanced Writing in Sciences or Engineering (WRIT 3130 and WRIT 3150). These courses take a rhetorical approach to guide undergraduate students in improving their information literacy, critical thinking, and writing processes at the college level and beyond.

The University of Minnesota offers professional development and advancement to all teaching specialists and lecturers. Work arrangements are in-person with onsite responsibilities. Base salary starts at $42,000-49,500 depending on rank and experience.

The successful candidate has demonstrated interest and experience in teaching students throughout their undergraduate years and composition/rhetoric; shows evidence of ongoing professional development and engagement; values participating in and contributing to an active community of reflective practitioners.
