Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent with one year of experience providing social or direct care services to groups of special needs individuals in a human service setting, OR
Associate degree in a related field OR one year of experience at the lower level or in an equivalent position.
- Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
- Able to lift 50 pounds.
- Completed Crisis Intervention training.
- Computer proficiency.
- Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
- Ability to observe and monitor individuals’ behavior.
- Ability to assist and supervise individuals with daily living activities.
- Knowledge of agency confidentiality policies, individualized plans, documentation process, pertinent state, federal, local laws, and regulations.
- Ability to develop individualized plans and prepare area‑specific reports.
- Knowledge of available resources and ability to provide training and/or orientation services.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Capability to investigate concerns or complaints and develop a resolution.
- Ability to complete evaluations to determine functional levels of individuals.
- Knowledge of recreational activities and skill to plan them.
- Participation in supportive guidance, staff supervision sessions, program planning meetings, consumer staffing, and service training.
- Awareness of agency safety policies, procedures, and vehicle operation regulations.
- Completion of daily housekeeping chores and reporting of facility repairs or equipment problems.
- Conflict resolution skills.
- Conduct individual and group training sessions.
- Knowledge of agency accepted disciplinary and group/interview techniques.
- Skill to develop teaching aids and case management abilities.

Performance Improvement
The Albany Area Community Service Board goal is to continually improve the delivery of service by improving consumer outcomes and satisfaction. All employees have a role in performance improvement and are expected to interact collaboratively with co‑workers and other contacts to provide consistent, high‑quality, consumer‑focused services.
Assigned Duties
- Safety
- Keep assigned areas, walkways, and fire exits neat, clean, and free of debris throughout the day.
- Complete daily cleaning protocol.
- Store cleaning products in designated locked cabinet.
- Report all possible infections to supervisor.
- Provide CPR, First Aid, CPI, or AAA as the situation requires.
- Assist people supported in services to and from the bus.
- Supervision of Individuals Supported through I/DD Services
- Maintain a maximum of a 1:10 staff‑to‑people‑supported ratio.
- Maintain line of sight (if applicable).
- Enhanced supervision (if applicable).
- Report behavioral concerns to supervisor.
- Develop training activities relevant to the ISP.

- Tracking completed daily by end of shift.
- Documentation includes goal progress and supporting activities.
- Write detailed person‑centered notes that include choices, participant response, staff involvement, lessons learned, and future action plans.
- Correct errors by drawing a line through the error, initials, and date.
- Supplemental documentation completed as required (e.g., seizure log, elimination chart, behavior log, repositioning log).
- Tracking reflects correct frequency and intent of all goals as outlined in the ISP.

Work Schedule
Monday – Friday; 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (may be changed based on agency need). This position is hourly and deemed non‑exempt status.
