The Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at the University of Iowa invites applications for an instructional-track position in statistics at the rank of lecturer starting August 16, 2023.
Applicants must possess a Master’s or a Ph.D. in statistics or a related area prior to August 16, 2023. A Ph.D. is preferred.
Excellent communication skills and experience teaching at the collegiate level are required. Experience teaching statistics courses and shared research interests with current faculty are desired. Candidates must be able to assume the duties of this position and be legally authorized to work in the United States by the start date.

The Ph.D. program offers concentrations in actuarial science/financial mathematics, biostatistics, data science, and probability/mathematical statistics. The department’s research interests include computational statistics, statistical genetics, spatial statistics, Bayesian inference, time series, categorical data analysis, bioinformatics, medical image analysis, data visualization, statistical learning, and actuarial science. The department maintains Linux and Windows networks and has invested in the university’s high-performance computing cluster (http://hpc.uiowa.edu).
