The Position

The Instructional Technologist actively promotes the use of existing and new technology to enhance learning, teaching, and research experiences for faculty and staff. They consult and work closely with faculty to propose, develop, and implement technology projects, providing training for and facilitating student-centered course design (face-to-face and online) that includes technological applications. They create opportunities for faculty and IT staff to share ideas about how technology can be used to enhance teaching, advising, and scholarship. They provide ongoing support to faculty and staff, and maintenance for major instructional technology initiatives, academic software, and assignments and assessments involving technology. The technologist monitors technological trends and developments, ensuring that the College's instructional technology is up to date, secure, effective, user-friendly, and reliable.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with Academic Affairs and Information Technology staff to develop and support technology solutions that enhance learning, teaching, and research experiences for faculty and students
• Collaborate with faculty and academic programs to integrate technology and technology instruction (for example, on the Microsoft suite or generative artificial intelligence applications) into curriculum design and delivery
• Coordinate IT portion of grant- and donor-funded academic projects
• Administer all LMS systems on campus (currently Moodle)
• Responsible for infrastructure (such as Brightspace) to support online learning
• Partner with Academic Affairs administrative areas (such as Library, Registrar, Institutional Research, and VPAA office) for technological support of platforms such as Coursedog, Qualtrics, etc.
• Manage technology applications needed by faculty
• Provide training and support to faculty and staff on the use of the LMS and student success software
• Maintain an inventory and annual audit of academic software applications
• Serve on relevant committees (for example, the Technology Executive Council) and attend meetings
• Potentially supervise 1-2 student workers
• Provide excellent service and consulting to campus stakeholders
• Know and follow data information security and other College policies
• Other duties as assigned

Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities:

• Bachelor's degree required (Master's degree preferred)
• 3-5 years minimum of educational technology experience required
• System implementation and project management experience preferred
• Experience in training and documentation for instructional design preferred
• Higher education experience preferred
• Teaching experience preferred

• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
• Effective organizational skills

• Demonstrated knowledge of learning management systems and current educational technologies
