Job summary

Lenoir Community College is seeking an Instructional Support Specialist - Continuing Education to provide comprehensive administrative and instructional coordination for the Continuing Education Division.

You will support the Associate Dean, Director of Continuing Education Transportation & Manufacturing Programs, faculty, and students by coordinating course offerings and keeping accurate instructional records.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree from an institution accredited by a federally recognized accreditor; a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution preferred
  • Two years of progressively responsible administrative, instructional support, or program coordination experience
  • Experience in continuing education, workforce development, or community college administration preferred
  • Experience with student information systems and course scheduling software

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordination of development, processing, and maintenance of section requests for continuing education courses
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of course schedules, instructional assignments, and room utilization schedules
  • Assist with course setup, revisions, cancellations, and updates in the student information system Colleague
  • Monitor course enrollments and communicate enrollment trends to administrators and program coordinators
  • Coordinate class logistics, including facilities, equipment, instructional materials, and technology needs
  • Ensure instructional documentation is completed and submitted on time
  • Maintain accurate non-curriculum records in compliance with NC State Board Code
  • Assist instructors with instructional resources, classroom needs, and course documentation
  • Process onboarding, contracts, and payroll-related paperwork for instructors
  • Coordinate communication between instructors, coordinators, and college departments
  • Maintain instructional files, evaluations, and compliance records
  • Support professional development and training activities for instructors
  • Assist students with registration, enrollment, and program inquiries
  • Provide accurate information regarding class schedules and program requirements
  • Support student retention through timely communication and follow-up
  • Assist with registration events, orientations, and recruitment initiatives
  • Monitor deadlines and ensure documentation is submitted on time
  • Maintain inventories of instructional equipment, supplies, and materials
  • Assist in coordinating workforce development and special training programs
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership

Job description

The Instructional Support Specialist - Continuing Education provides comprehensive instructional, operational, and administrative support for the Continuing Education Division. This position serves as a key resource to the Associate Dean of Customized Industry Training & Apprenticeships and the Director of Continuing Education Transportation & Manufacturing Programs, faculty, and students by coordinating course offerings, processing section requests, maintaining instructional records, supporting enrollment management, and facilitating the effective delivery of workforce and community education programs.

The Instructional Support Specialist exercises independent judgment in coordinating instructional operations, ensuring compliance with college and state requirements, maintaining accurate records, and supporting strategic initiatives within the division. The position serves as a liaison among instructors, staff, students, business and industry partners, and college administration.

Working Conditions:

The duties of the Instructional Support Specialist - Continuing Education include, but are not limited to:
