Job summary

Elmwood Park Public Schools is seeking an Instructional Paraprofessional/Bus Aide to support certified staff in classrooms and during non-instructional duties across the district. The role includes guiding students, assisting with benefits of instruction, and supervising during lunch, bus duty, and field trips.

The position emphasizes collaboration with teachers, communication with parents, and maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment for diverse learners, including those with IEP

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of college coursework (60 credits) or equivalent.
• Prior experience with students with special needs desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist and guide students to reinforce reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist professional staff with administration and correction of classroom exercises and assessments.
• Prepare and reinforce instructional materials tailored to individual student needs.
• Assist with record-keeping to document student progress.
• Support classroom behavior management to maintain a safe, orderly environment.
• Supervise students during non-instructional times (lunch, bus duty, playground, corridor, study hall).
• Accompany students on field trips for supervision.
• Assist with parent contact to promote involvement in education.
• Assist students with special needs to maximize inclusion and learning outcomes.
