Job summary

Kentwood Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional - Instructional to support students in the classroom. The role involves reinforcing reading, math, language arts, and computer instruction, both in small groups and one-on-one settings, under supervision of a certified staff member.

The position also includes assisting with assessments, materials, and record-keeping, plus supervision during non-instructional times and field trips. Experience with diverse learners is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of study at an institution of higher learning (60 credits) OR associate degree OR pass state assessment.
• Prior experience working with students with diverse learning needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reading, language arts, mathematics, computer instruction and other skills.
• Work with students individually and in small groups to reinforce learning.
• Assist in administration and correction of classroom exercises, tests and assessments.
• Assist in classroom preparations and strategies for reinforcing instructional materials.
• Assist with record-keeping documenting student learning and performance.
• Support classroom behavioral management and safety.
• Supervise non-instructional areas (lunch, bus, playground, study hall) and accompany on field trips.
• Distribute and use educational materials as needed.
• Assist with parent contact to foster involvement.
• Support students with special needs and participate in IEP processes as needed.
