Job summary

Allentown School District seeks an instructional paraprofessional to support and assist in providing instructional, behavioral, and functional programs for students with disabilities under certificated staff guidance. The role includes one-on-one or group review of material, classroom management, and implementing positive behavior support plans.

Requirements include 2 years of postsecondary study or an associate degree, along with compliance with state clearances and annual staff development

Qualifications

• Have completed at least 2 years of postsecondary study.
• Possess an associate degree or higher.
• Meet a rigorous standard of quality as demonstrated through a State or local assessment.
• Participate in 20 hours of approved staff development activities annually.

Responsibilities

• Assist the principal and other professionals in maintaining a safe and orderly school environment.
• Assist teachers in delivering instructional and tutorial strategies per IEP.
• Provide instructional support under teacher direction (tests, tutoring, reinforcing instruction).
• Collect observational and academic data for progress monitoring.
• Maintain students' files/records for documentation.
• Follow and implement positive behavior support plans.
