General Position Description

Assist in the implementation of a specified instructional program under the supervision of an appropriate faculty member, dean, Instructional Lab Supervisor, Lab Supervisor, Staff Instructional Assistant, Senior, and/or Laboratories Manager. Provide instructional services for students and assist them in mastering skills required for success within a course of study.

Work Arrangement and Schedule

Flexible Work Arrangement: Majority/Primarily On-site; employee performs most duties on-site but may occasionally work remotely.

Grade: 2024

Exemption Status: Non-Exempt

Location: Orlando, FL 32832 - Lake Nona Campus

Proposed Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday 9am - 6pm (25 hours/week); schedule may vary based on department needs.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Instruct and provide direction to students: Guide students on labs, projects, or related assignments, and answer questions regarding lab processes, software, and hardware.
  2. Prepare and maintain lab materials: Set up laboratory materials, equipment, supplies, and maintain lab facilities and equipment.
  3. Academic advising: Recommend appropriate courses or measures to address academic deficiencies.
  4. Supervise staff: Train and oversee staff members.
  5. Testing and counseling: Provide additional testing and academic counseling as appropriate.
  6. Meetings and events: Attend departmental and instructional meetings; organize and participate in campus-wide events to inform students of available services.
  7. Develop corrective action plans: Collaborate with students and instructors to create plans for students not making satisfactory progress.
  8. Data compilation and evaluation: Collect data and evaluate skills programs.
  9. Other duties: Perform related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Education: Associate's Degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Field of Study: Other

Preferred Education: Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.

Experience: Completion of some computer coursework; experience in instruction.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the specific academic discipline assigned.
  • Experience with testing procedures and applications.
  • Interpersonal relations skills.
  • Computer skills and experience.
Working Conditions

This position primarily operates in a professional office environment with standard office equipment. The noise level is usually quiet to moderate. Physical activities include remaining stationary, moving, reaching, lifting objects between 5-15 pounds, and communicating effectively.
