Job Description

The AI Fluency Instructional Designer will design, develop and maintain learning solutions that build employee capability and confidence in using the firm’s AI tools across segments, roles and regions.

As an Instructional Designer within the firmwide Employee Enablement program, you will translate AI adoption goals into clear learning needs and create modern, experiential learning journeys that help employees use the right AI tools at the right time to maximize productivity and value. You will collaborate with HR, Technology, Data & Analytics, Risk & Compliance, product and enablement teams, learning partners, project managers and subject matter experts to deliver high-quality, scalable learning.

This role requires strong expertise in adult learning principles, needs analysis, curriculum and journey design, content review/QA, and the practical application of generative AI tools—along with a working understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and responsible use in a regulated environment.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assess and scope learning needs across employee segments, sub-segments and personas, turning AI adoption goals and skills gaps into prioritized, clearly scoped learning requirements.

  • Design and develop modern, experiential instructional materials, curriculum and learning journeys that build AI fluency, from foundational literacy to advanced, workflow-embedded use.

  • Leverage learning science principles to ensure learning is durable and results in lasting, impactful behavior change.

  • Apply the firm’s AI fluency practices framework and proficiency levels to define business objectives, learning outcomes, map content to the framework and identify gaps in the current curriculum.

  • Review and evaluate existing internal and vendor learning content for quality, accuracy, relevance and alignment to the framework, and recommend whether to reuse, adapt, retire or build.

  • Design tool-specific and workflow-based learning for the firm’s AI tools, including chat assistants, Microsoft Copilot and emerging agentic tools, in partnership with tool product and enablement teams.

  • Partner with segment and line of business learning teams, who own development and delivery, through repeatable playbooks, design standards and templates that scale learning across the firm.

  • Define and test what a high-quality, end-to-end learner experience looks like, leading pilots, user testing, feedback and revisions so learning meets learner needs.

  • Work with stakeholders and measurement and analytics partners to define a performance-focused measurement plan and to use adoption and usage signals to target learning and report on impact.

  • Lead research and benchmarking of AI upskilling at peer organizations, industry frameworks and external research, bring relevant insights into learning design and make sure learning content meets firm standards for quality, accessibility, responsible AI use and data handling.

  • Collaborate with HR, Technology, Data & Analytics, Risk & Compliance, subject matter experts, managers and senior leaders to produce high-quality learning design; use AI tools in your own design process to speed up needs analysis, content creation, review, and role-model responsible AI use.

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • 6+ years of instructional design experience creating modern, experiential learning for adult learners at scale.

  • Proven ability to run learning needs analysis and scope solutions from business goals, skills gaps, and learner data.

  • Strong curriculum design skills (curation, creation, mapping to frameworks, proficiency levels, and learning journeys).

  • Hands-on experience with generative AI tools; working knowledge of AI concepts, capabilities, limitations, and responsible use.

  • Strong content review and quality assurance skills, including actionable feedback.

  • Advanced stakeholder management and cross-functional partnership skills (especially in transformation environments).

  • Strong project management and organization skills; ability to manage multiple workstreams to deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to explain technical concepts in plain language.

  • Strong ownership, execution, consulting, and influencing skills.

  • Global mindset and cultural fluency; ability to design for diverse roles and geographies.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and resilience in a changing environment.

Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Experience designing learning for enterprise AI or digital transformation programs.

  • Experience with skills taxonomies, AI literacy frameworks, and/or assessment design.

  • Experience using learning data and adoption analytics to target and improve learning.

  • Experience designing for managers and senior leaders as well as individual contributors.

  • Experience in financial services or another regulated industry.

  • Familiarity with evidence-based learning design principles and digital learning platforms.
