Job description

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is hiring an Instructional Designer. This role develops technology-rich teaching materials and e-learning content, collaborates with faculty and instructional teams to plan and deploy online courses within the Learning Management System, ensures digital accessibility compliance, and supports educational technology integration and troubleshooting.

Highlights

  • Utilize Learning Management Systems such as Canvas for course building and delivery.
  • Ensure compliance with UNC's Digital Accessibility Standards and apply Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.0.
  • Support and troubleshoot new educational technologies and tools to enhance user experience.
  • Provide expertise in instructional design processes, multimedia content creation, and LMS technical support.
  • Proficiency preferred with tools including Adobe Creative Suite, H5P, VoiceThread, Poll Everywhere, Qualtrics, Teams Office 365, Zoom, Panopto, Padlet, Canva, DesignPlus, and AI tools like ChatGPT and HeyGen.
  • Experience with Online Course Quality Assurance standards such as Quality Matters and OLC Scorecard is preferred.
  • Requires relevant post-baccalaureate degree or bachelor's degree with 3+ years relevant experience in course content development or instructional design.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects independently.
  • Hiring range is $57,000 to $83,000 per year for a full-time permanent position reporting to the Executive Director of Instructional Design.
