Job summary

Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking an Instructional Design Intern to join our Cybersecurity team and help design, develop, and update engaging training materials.

You will gain hands-on experience creating eLearning courses, graphics, and digital content, while collaborating across departments. This in-person internship is based at our Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri for the 2026–2027 academic year, with potential extension through the summer.

Responsibilities

  • Help design, develop, and update training modules.
  • Edit and proofread learning materials for quality and consistency.
  • Create graphics and promotional materials for training modules.
  • Test eLearning courses to ensure functionality and learner experience.
  • Partner with divisions to upload, organize, and maintain learning modules.
  • Participate in instructional design meetings and project planning.

As an Instructional Design Intern, you'll work alongside our Cybersecurity team to adapt engaging training that helps employees recognize cyber threats and stay safe online. You'll gain hands-on experience designing eLearning, creating digital content, and collaborating with professionals across the organization. This in-person internship is based at our Headquarters in Springfield, Missouri, during the 2026–2027 academic year, with the potential to continue through the summer.

We're Looking for Someone Who is:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Graphic Design, Multimedia, or a related field.
  • A strong communicator with excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects.
  • Able to work independently while also collaborating with a team.
Bonus Points If You Have Experience with:
  • Articulate Storyline or Articulate 360.
  • Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, or other graphic design tools.
  • Creating presentations, videos, or other digital learning content.
  • Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • Microsoft Teams or similar collaboration tools.
  • Coursework or a personal interest in cybersecurity.
