Job summary

KIPP NYC is seeking a Dean in New York City to lead curriculum development, school culture, and student achievement across our network. The Dean coordinates instructional content with the Teaching & Learning team, coaches teachers, and guides professional development aligned with school goals.

This role requires strong leadership, at least five years of classroom teaching, and one year of coaching or leadership, with a Bachelor's degree. Travel to campuses is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• At least five years of full time classroom teaching experience.
• At least one year of adult management/teacher coaching.
• Experience in education leadership is strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated success in raising achievement levels of students.
• Demonstrated success in developing academic programs and culture.
• Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness.
• Strong analytical skills with data-driven decision making.
• Ability to give and implement feedback.
• Ability to exercise excellent judgment in decision making.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute high-quality, standards-based curricula.
• Work with the principal to develop strategies to improve student performance.
• Coordinate instructional support for co-curriculars and special education.
• Motivate and focus staff on student achievement to reach higher levels.
• Model school culture and be visible in classrooms.
• Lead values integration and character development.
• Monitor student achievement with data analysis support.
• Analyze results and target interventions to improve outcomes.
• Plan and deliver ongoing professional development and feedback.
• Recruit and hire teaching staff in collaboration with the Principal.
