Boston Public Schools seeks an exceptional Instructional Coach who is highly qualified and knowledgeable to join our community of teachers, learners, and leaders. Reports to: Principal/Head of School

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional support and technical assistance to teachers, monitoring the full implementation of instructional focus and expectations.
  • Assist in planning effective lessons, conduct demonstration classes, co-teach, provide in-class coaching (including videotaping and debriefing), and support professional development activities such as workshops, study groups, and peer observations.
  • Support proper implementation of BPS assessments, analyze results, and respond accordingly.
  • Maintain detailed logs of activities, objectives, outcomes, next steps, and timelines.
  • Monitor individual teacher progress and participation in professional development.
  • Participate in professional development activities, including meetings focused on implementation, problem-solving, and training sessions.
  • Share leadership in selected instructional focus areas, such as assessment development and data analysis. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Principal.

Qualifications - Required

  • Valid Massachusetts Teaching License in relevant content area.
  • Experience as a teacher in relevant subjects.
  • Proven success in professional development roles, team leadership, or facilitation.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. from the first day of employment.

Qualifications - Preferred

  • SEI endorsement or dual certification in ESL.
  • Experience in urban education settings.
  • Special education certification or expertise.
  • Fluency in one of BPS's official languages (Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, Somali) is highly valued.
  • Certification in subject area and in Special Education or ESL is preferred for core content teachers.

Terms: BTU, Group I, with an additional 5% of annual salary as compensation. For more details, visit www.bostonpublicschools.org/ohr. The school day varies; some schools have longer hours under the "Schedule A" ELT program.
