Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced professional to design and deliver district-wide professional development in early literacy using Amplify Caminos, mCLASS Lectura, and CKLA. The role requires leading trainings for groups up to 150 teachers and school leaders, both in person and remotely, with a focus on Spanish-language delivery.

Qualifications

• Fluent in Spanish, including speaking, reading, and writing, and able to deliver trainings in Spanish
• Demonstrated experience teaching foundational literacy skills in K-5 using high-quality materials
• 7+ years of K-5 classroom literacy teaching experience with demonstrable student results
• Experience in dual language or bilingual settings working in English and Spanish
• Experience analyzing data to inform instructional practice
• Proven time-management across multiple engagements and priorities
• Proficiency with Microsoft and Google productivity tools

Job description

• Design and lead professional development for district teachers, administrators, and instructional leaders using Amplify Spanish Literacy products
• Support educator learning related to instruction, assessment, data use, and early literacy skills to increase student achievement
• Support educators onsite up to four days per week, with the fifth day dedicated to planning and preparation
• Follow the NYCPS district calendar and support Amplify PD initiatives during district holidays, breaks, school cancellations, and summer
• Design and/or deliver professional development during summer and breaks for NYCPS and other districts
• Collaborate with district/school leadership and Amplify’s Associate Director of Professional Development to determine strategy, focus, and coaching approach
• Partner with regional and school leadership to adjust course based on student-outcome goals
• Lead professional learning around Amplify Caminos and mCLASS Lectura
• Work with educator groups to enhance implementation, set goals, and plan literacy instruction using assessment and implementation data
• Facilitate trainings for groups of up to 150 teachers and/or leaders
• Support school leaders in interpreting implementation health and planning school and classroom supports
• Observe teacher practice and provide individual feedback
• Collaborate with the Amplify team working in the district
• Communicate proactively with school and district contacts
• Recommend ways to support educators using Amplify Spanish literacy products
• Design and communicate strategic supports at key times of year
• Support NYCPS parent and community communication regarding implementation
• Participate in Amplify coaching meetings and internal trainings
• Design standard and custom PD materials, including Google slide decks, videos, online courses, and participant resources
• Deliver remote or in-person training for national customers
• Build knowledge of Amplify CKLA, Boost, and Boost Lectura
• Seek feedback and adapt practice based on improved student outcomes
• Create or customize professional development experiences
• Facilitate district-wide professional development sessions in person and remotely

Requirements

• Fluent in Spanish, including speaking, reading, and writing, and able to deliver trainings in Spanish
• Demonstrated experience teaching foundational skills—phonological/phonemic awareness, phonics, and fluency with Science of Reading-aligned, high-quality instructional materials
• 3+ years experience leading sustained coaching engagements and professional development for educators in K-5
• 7+ years of K-5 classroom literacy teaching experience, leading to demonstrable results for students
• Experience in a dual language or bilingual educational setting working directly in both English and Spanish
• Experience working on collaborative projects with leaders and teachers
• Experience analyzing data and using it to inform practice
• Proven efficacy in time management while managing multiple engagements and competing priorities
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated proficiency in technology-based productivity tools, including Microsoft and Google Applications
• Able to commute using public transportation or a personal vehicle approximately 5 days per week to schools in New York City
• Must be permitted to work in the US and have residency in the US
• Must possess a valid US driver’s license
• Must live within 30 miles of New York City
• Reliable home internet capable of supporting Google Meet and Zoom video calls
• Quiet, professional place to deliver remote professional development
• Background check required if selected
• Master’s or advanced degree in education (preferred)
• Experience using or supporting Amplify Caminos (preferred)
• Ability to support teachers in a remote learning environment, if needed (preferred)
• Ability to navigate Learning Management Systems such as Schoology, Clever, and Google Classroom (preferred)
• Knowledge of Amplify CKLA, mCLASS, and/or Boost/Boost Lectura (a plus)
