Job summary

Amplify is seeking an Instructional Coach for Literacy to join our Professional Development team, supporting Montgomery County Public Schools in Maryland for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates should reside in or near Montgomery County, MD and be able to travel locally to schools throughout the district several days per week.

The role focuses on coaching, classroom observations, PLCs, data analysis, and collaborating with district and school leadership to drive equitable outcomes in literacy.

Qualifications

Job Description

Amplify is seeking Instructional Coaches for Literacy with a background in teaching, coaching, and/or school leadership to join our Professional Development (PD) team as a fixed-term employee supporting Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) in Maryland for the 2026-2027 school year. Candidates should be based in or near the Montgomery County, MD area and able to travel locally to schools throughout the district multiple days per week.

Essential Responsibilities

The Instructional Coach will support educators on-site up to four days a week with the fifth day dedicated to planning and preparing to meet the needs of educators. Most weeks will be 40 hour work weeks. The Instructional Coach may be asked to support the Amplify PD team on department-wide initiatives on days that educators have off when Amplify is open for business (teacher work days, holidays, winter and summer breaks, school cancellations, etc.). This support will vary but may include designing and/or delivering PD through the summer to other districts.

In this role, you will collaborate with district/school leadership and the Amplify Literacy Professional Development Strategist to determine the strategy, focus, and a coaching approach for different times of year. You will also partner to adjust course, as needed, with an eye toward improving student outcomes. An outcomes-centered orientation and ability to pivot on short notice are necessary for this role.

  • Providing recommendations to school leadership designed to enhance outcomes and equity of learning for diverse student populations, including students with learning and thinking differences and English Learners.

  • Leading classroom observations and providing coaching and feedback to teachers and leaders to strengthen implementation of Amplify's literacy suite.

  • Facilitating professional learning communities (PLCs) and office-hour consultations.

  • Supporting data analysis and instructional planning.

  • Analyzing student work and formative assessment data to support instructional decision-making and responsiveness to learner outcomes.

  • Cultivating model classrooms and capturing exemplar instructional practices.

In addition to these specific areas of focus in coaching, the instructional coach will also:

  • Build knowledge about other Amplify early literacy programs- including CKLA, Boost, and Boost Lectura- in order to support a cohesive educator experience across products

  • Proactively seek out feedback and adapt coaching practice to achieve improved student outcomes

  • Create or customize professional development experiences, as needed

  • Facilitate district-wide professional development sessions- both in person and remotely- as needed, for leaders and teachers

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology-based productivity tools, mainly Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Meet, etc.)

  • Must reside in or near Montgomery County, MD and be able to travel locally (up to four days per week) to support educators across the district

Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of Maryland’s Literacy Standards

  • Experience using or supporting Amplify literacy products

  • 10+ years of K-5 or 6-8 teaching and leadership experience, leading to demonstrable results for students

  • Ability to support educators in a remote learning environment, if needed

  • Fluent in Spanish, including speaking, reading, and writing

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Location: This position requires that the Instructional Coach, Literacy is permitted to work in the U.S., has residency in the U.S., and possess a valid U.S. driver’s license. The coach must live within 30 miles of Montgomery County, Maryland. The coach may be asked to deliver sessions throughout the country based on business needs and during school closures or if the MCPS engagement ends early.

Travel: Local travel is required and considered an essential job function. Car mileage and related expenses for professional development delivery are initially paid in advance by the Instructional Coach, Literacy. Reimbursements for these expenses, including mileage if driving your own car, will be processed 2-3 weeks following submission of the expense reimbursement requests.

Documentation: If selected, a background check will be required. As required by state and local laws and district policies, additional documentation may be required.

Equipment: This position requires reliable home internet that can support video calls on Google Meet and Zoom and a quiet, professional place to deliver remote professional development.
