Job summary

Tooele High School in Tooele, UT seeks a collaborative and dynamic Instructional Coach to support teachers in developing effective classroom management and evidence-based instructional strategies.

The coach will model best practices, deliver professional development, observe classrooms, provide actionable feedback, and develop resources to promote equity and high student achievement. This role is a part-time, school-based position with opportunities for ongoing growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Education or related field is required.
• Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
• Valid teaching license is required or clearly active.
• Minimum 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience.
• Experience delivering professional development or coaching is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with teachers one-on-one and in small groups to set goals related to classroom management and instructional practices.
• Model effective classroom management techniques and instructional strategies during co-teaching or model lessons.
• Plan and deliver workshops, coaching cycles, and PLC sessions focused on proven teaching strategies.
• Observe classrooms, provide actionable feedback, and support reflective practice.
• Curate and create resources and templates that promote evidence-based instruction.
• Help teachers analyze behavioral and academic data to inform decisions.
• Guide differentiation to address diverse student needs and promote equity.
• Foster a growth mindset and a safe environment for teacher growth.

Overview

Tooele High School seeks a collaborative and dynamic Instructional Coach to support teachers in developing effective classroom management and evidence-based instructional strategies. The coach will work closely with educators to foster engaging, inclusive, and well-managed learning environments, ensuring the highest levels of student success.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Teachers: Work one-on-one and in small groups with teachers to set professional goals related to classroom management and instructional practices.
• Model Best Practices: Demonstrate effective classroom management techniques and instructional strategies during co-teaching or model lessons.
• Facilitate Professional Development: Plan and deliver workshops, coaching cycles, and professional learning community (PLC) sessions focused on proven teaching strategies (e.g., positive behavior supports, gradual release of responsibility, formative assessment).
• Observation & Feedback: Observe classrooms, provide actionable feedback, and support reflective practice.
• Resource Development: Curate and create resources, tools, and templates that promote evidence-based classroom management and instruction.
• Data-Driven Support: Help teachers analyze classroom data (behavioral and academic) to inform instructional decisions and management approaches.
• Support Differentiation: Guide teachers in addressing diverse student needs through differentiated instruction and culturally responsive practices.
• Promote a Growth Mindset: Foster a safe, supportive, and collaborative environment for teacher growth.
• Stay Informed: Keep current with research on instructional strategies, classroom management, and adolescent learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (Master’s preferred)
• Valid teaching license
• Minimum 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience, preferably at the junior high or secondary level
• Demonstrated expertise in classroom management and effective instruction
• Experience delivering professional development or coaching preferredStrong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trusting relationships
• Commitment to equity, continuous improvement, and high standards for all students

Additional Information

• Schedule: This is a part-time position; schedule to be determined in collaboration with school administration. 29 hours/week
• Professional Growth: The coach will have opportunities for ongoing learning and may participate in district and school-level professional development.
• Collaboration: The coach will work closely with instructional leadership teams, counselors, and other support staff.
