**Position Summary**

An instructional assistant/paraprofessional is an individual who is non-certified in the area in which they are assisting (even if licensed or certified in a different profession) and aids a certified professional in implementing educational programs.

**Job Duties**

The daily responsibilities of an instructional assistant/paraprofessional are determined by the classroom teacher or their designee and may vary based on the needs of the classroom, students, and district. Reassignment may occur daily based on these needs. The assistant must adhere to their supervisor’s outlined duties.

**Qualifications and Required Documents**

- Proof of high school diploma or higher education
- Pennsylvania Criminal Records check (Act 34), less than 5 years old
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151), less than 5 years old
- FBI Criminal History Record, less than 5 years old
- TB test or chest x-ray within the last 3 months
- Three professional references or letters
- Resume
- Routing and account number for direct deposit
- Two valid forms of ID for I-9
- Valid, active email address
- Disclosure of any employment involving contact with children per PA Act 168
- Proof of mandated training (Act 126, Act 71) and any additional relevant certificates

**Essential Functions**

Assist in implementing educational programs by working with students individually or in small groups, supporting teachers, preparing materials, and managing classroom behavior. Ensure a safe, organized environment conducive to learning, and assist with student supervision and use of resources.

**Physical and Environmental Requirements**

The role requires standing or sitting for extended periods, moderate lifting, manual dexterity, and the ability to respond quickly to student needs. The work environment includes district buildings, grounds, and transportation, with exposure to varying temperatures.
