Purpose Statement: The job of Special Programs Education Assistant is done for the purpose/s of under the direction of assigned personnel, assists, tutors, and trains special education and other identified students in a classroom or similar learning situation; providing personal care assistance; and performing classroom clerical tasks in support of the instructional process.
Minimum Qualifications
Operating standard office equipment; preparing and maintaining accurate records.
Algebra and/or geometry; understanding written procedures, writing routine documents, speaking clearly; understanding complex, multi-step written and oral instructions.
Scheduling activities; gathering and collating data; using job-related equipment; flexibility; problem solving with data; working with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; exhibiting patience and compassion; working with frequent interruptions.
Responsibilities include: Working under direct supervision using standardized procedures; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the Organization’s services.
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 20% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and some hazardous conditions.
