Job summary

Queen Creek Unified School District in Arizona is seeking an Instructional Assistant - Special Education at Eastmark High School to support classroom teachers by working with individual students or small groups.

Responsibilities include reinforcing learning objectives, supervising students, assisting with lunch and transit routines, and ensuring safety. Must have HS diploma, pass background check, and obtain First Aid/CPR; 35 hours weekly, 187 days, hourly, non-exempt.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Must have, or be willing to obtain First Aid and CPR certification and keep certifications current.
  • Must be able to bend and lift 30 lbs. and stand for long periods.
  • Must pass a background clearance.
  • Must obtain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Responsibilities

  • Works with individual students or groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills introduced by the teacher.
  • Guides independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work set up by the classroom teacher.
  • Checks class work, grade papers and supervise testing as assigned by the teacher.
  • Serves as the chief source of information and help any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Alerts the classroom teacher to any problems.
  • Maintains the same high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information as is expected of teachers.
  • Participates in in-service training programs as required.
  • Assists students with lunch, snack, recess and cleanup routines.
  • Meets students at the bus each morning and take them to the bus in the afternoon.
  • Assists students with wash-up and toilet routines, including changing diapers.
  • Operates and care for equipment and assistive technology used in the classroom.
  • Assists with student supervision in all school settings.
  • Refers all parent questions/concerns directly and immediately to classroom teacher.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned to advance district priorities.

JOB GOAL:

COMPENSATION: Per QCUSD salary schedule for applicable position
BENEFITS:As per QCUSD District policy
REPORTS TO:Classroom teacher, site administrator, special education administrator
HOURS: 35hours per week, Monday - Friday 7:00 am -2:30 pm
CLASSIFICATION:Hourly, Non-exempt

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
