Job summary

Poway Unified School District seeks a classroom assistant to support instructors in caring for preschool children, supervise activities, and help with learning in and around the classroom and playground. The role requires coordination with staff, adherence to safety protocols, and flexibility to work within a district-wide program on a 9.5–12 month schedule, 3.0–3.5 hours per day.

Qualifications

Requirements / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Six semester units of early childhood education or child development. (Transcripts MUST be attached for your application to be considered complete. Applications without transcripts will be disqualified.)

--AND--

One year experience working with preschool age children.

--AND--

Licenses And Other Requirements

• Valid certifications provided by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or District approved provider for First Aid, Adult/Child CPR and AED. Online certifications will be accepted from these vendors as long as a hands-on skills assessment is completed.
• Recertification to maintain current/valid status is a condition of employment. The reference is 101182 (e) (1) of Title 22, Division 12 (Child Care General Licensing Requirements).
• Passage of the PUSD examination for this classification (This test will be administered after initial requirements for the position have been met.)

Candidates who possess a Bachelor's Degree from a US accredited college (or foreign equivalency) AND have passed the CBEST will be placed at Step 6 of the salary range designated for this classification.
